Since ancient times, dance has been performed outdoors, in nature, during ceremonies, rituals, in salons, temples... For Antonio Ruz, dance should not be limited to a conventional stage, but rather, it can engage in a dialogue with the architecture and energy of other spaces, allowing new audiences to discover and access it. It is an intimate dialogue with the place's physicality, altering the perception of the choreographic act within a close, three-dimensional context.

In addition to the rigor and effort required by the discipline of dance, there is a particularity in the art of movement: the pleasure or release experienced by both the practitioner and the observer. This project celebrates dance as a play of the body, where improvisation, composition, and live creation become powerful channels for expression and reflection.

Following its premiere at Matadero Madrid in 2024, SOLAZ arrives in Mexico as a site-specific version featuring 20 dancers from Mexico, Spain, Colombia, the United States, and Costa Rica, built upon play, improvisation, and shared movement. More than a traditional performance, the piece proposes an ephemeral, communal experience where the audience is invited to engage physically and rediscover dance through pleasure and joy.

The project is organized by Ruta del Castor and mediated in collaboration with La Nueva Red de Bailadores (The New Network of Dancers). It will be presented during Art Week 2026, seeking to broaden the dialogue between the performing arts and contemporary art. With live electronic music by Spanish producer Aire, costumes by fashion designer Gabrielle Venguer, and an international cast, the performance is presented as a transdisciplinary and collaborative endeavor.
